Harald support
Harald is made by one person. Write to support@getharald.app and say what you were doing, your iPhone model and iOS version, and the device you were talking to. I read everything.
Common questions
Why is my device not showing up?
Check, in this order:
- Bluetooth is on and Harald is allowed to use it (iOS Settings, Harald).
- The scan is still running. It stops after 15 seconds by default; pull down on Nearby to scan again, or change the time in More, Settings.
- The device is awake and advertising. Many devices stop advertising once something is connected to them, so disconnect the other phone or app first.
- It speaks Bluetooth Low Energy. Headphones, car kits and speakers mostly use Classic Bluetooth, which iPhone apps cannot see (next question).
Why can't Harald see Classic Bluetooth devices or iBeacons?
This is an iPhone limit, not a bug. iOS does not let apps scan for Classic (BR/EDR) devices, so headphones, speakers and older serial modules never appear in a scan. iOS also hides iBeacons from normal Bluetooth scans; apps can only look for beacons whose ID they already know. Until Harald can handle these, a beacon may show up as "Not identified" with its raw data, or not at all.
What can automations do in the background?
They can react to a known device coming into range, leaving or sending a value while Harald is in the background, because iOS wakes the app for those events. A wake gives the app only a few seconds, so long handshakes can run out of time. Finding a brand new device in the background is weak, because iOS slows scans down. If you force quit Harald, turn Bluetooth off or restart the iPhone, nothing runs until you open Harald again.
How do I restore Harald Pro?
Open More, then Pro, and tap Restore. Use the same Apple ID you bought with. If it says no earlier purchase was found, check which Apple ID is signed in under iOS Settings, your name, Media & Purchases.
How do I export my data?
On a device screen, tap Export to save everything about that device as a JSON file. Exports open the iOS share sheet, so you choose where the file goes. Harald keeps nothing on a server; the file is the only copy outside your iPhone.
